Hand-Dyed Leather Chairs
& Settees
Due to the incredibly high costs of buying certain original antique chairs, it has led us to produce our own range of classics. We just make eight different models, starting with a William & Mary winged chair (circa 1685) and finishing with a Victorian cushion back club chair (circa 1880). In each case we have bought an original, it has been stripped down to the frame, and then copied in every detail, from the solid, top class, beech frame to the hand carved legs and the hand dyed leather. We buy our new full Scottish hide leather from the tannery. It has been treated BUT not dyed. The chairs are then traditionally upholstered with the plain leather and then they are dyed by hand. Thus the age effect can be dramatic, with meticulous workmanship.
All the chairs and settees are traditionally upholstered, using full hide, brass castors, brass or chrome studs, beech frames and top quality mahogany, oak or walnut legs.
